Joseph M. Pratt

Joseph Pratt is President & CEO of Charter Trust Company and Senior Vice President for Wealth Management of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.  Mr. Pratt joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust in 2000 and maintains offices in Concord, New Hampshire and Ellsworth, Maine.

Founded in 1984, Charter Trust Company is a wealth management firm headquartered in Concord NH.  Working confidentially with individuals, families and institutions to increase wealth through asset allocation, investment management, and charitable giving; and preserve, protect, and transfer wealth through estate planning and business succession strategies, education and philanthropy.  The company manages over a billion dollars in client assets and acts as fiduciaries for clients in 43 states and 3 countries.

Mr. Pratt joined Bar Harbor Trust Services in 2000 as Vice President for Business Development.  He became Managing Director in 2004 and President in 2015.  Bar Harbor Trust Services is the Maine, wealth management subsidiary of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.

Mr. Pratt earned a degree in International Affairs/Political Science at the University of Maine and accepted a commission in the United States Air Force.  He left active military service as a Captain.  He entered the financial services industry in 1992 holding positions of increasing scope and responsibility including Personal Financial Advisor for American Express Financial Advisors in Portland, ME; Vice President and Trust Officer for Key Private Bank in Bangor, ME; and Vice President and Senior Trust Officer for TD Bank in Bangor, ME.

Mr. Pratt is the founding President of the Maine Planned Giving Council.  He has served on nonprofit boards including the Maine Philanthropy Center, Bangor YMCA, United Way of Eastern Maine, and Bangor Public Library.  He is a frequent presenter for the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Northern New England and the Maine Association of Nonprofits.
